The freedom of a little bird over a large icy city. So much freedom in fact, that the bird is on her way off the canvas. This piece is a study of space, cooler colours and the emotion of the little bird. The backlit silhouetted tree creates balance to the painting. The pale yellow sunrise announces the hope of a new day.
A blessed weekend to all – remember to enjoy the present moment!
This painting is part of a trilogy I painted for a restaurant. I only used 2 main colours: a very dark olive green and raw umber – this creates simplicity enabling the viewer to capture the mood rather than the details of the painting. As a little point of interest: the spike of the umbrella is postbox red. Happy Sunday everyone, I hope it’s not raining where you are, but then again, rain can be beautiful too! Until next time, Katherine ❤
Sometimes when I get an idea my paintbrush won’t move fast enough across the paper! Here’s a quick painted sketch I did using orange and black watercolour. I love the dramatic effect of the striking black against the bright orange.
Very little paint and light brush strokes create this ethereal soft pink silhouette. I see her as a woman waiting to greet a lover.
