This is probably the last painting of the year. Another year gone all too quickly. A year with the usual mixed bag of heartache and joy. This painting celebrates those quiet moments and simple pleasures.

This cubism painting was inspired by a naturalistic portrait I painted last summer of my daughter (included at the bottom of this post for reference)
I am spending quite a bit of time in Odense this week as my husband is performing at the Hans Christian Andersen Festival. I suddenly remembered this portrait I painted a few years ago. (It was sold to an avid fan of this celebrated author.) Lovely to be spending so much time in this fun city! Great cafés and people!

Mogens Glistrup was a charasmatic Danish politician. He had quite a face – full of personality and charisma! It was a pure joy to paint this portrait. I chose to paint a close-up type of portraiture for this – almost as if it was a photograph, I just felt it added more intensity and interest.
